TV 9 & 10 weather:
Today: Snow showers are working through the Northern Lower Peninsula but it is more of a mix, sleet and rain for areas along M-32 and South. This will continue to work North/Northeast into the Eastern U.P. as we head through today. Roads will remain slick in spots, some visibilities could be reduced as heavier snow tries to fall at times. No matter your location or time of day just take your time and be careful as this system will be a mess through the day. The rest of the day will bring snow and mixed showers for the Tip of the Mitt and Eastern U.P. Areas could see 1-3″ with isolated higher amounts through the day. Once you get South of M-32 the precipitation will be mainly rain and some mixed showers. This will cut way back on any additional accumulations for the day. Some thunderstorms will be possible for areas of the Central Lower Peninsula today as well. Highs will be in the low 30s to mid 40s with winds out of the East/Northeast at 10-20mph.
Tonight: Skies will continue to be a sloppy and slushy mess with snow and mixed showers for the U.P. with another inch or two possible. The Lower Peninsula will see rain and or mixed showers until at least daybreak before changing over to snow showers. Overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s for the most part with winds out of the Northeast/East at 10-20mph.
This Weekend: Saturday is looking windy with some snow showers but highs will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Blowing snow could be an issue but for the most part any accumulations should be hanging around 1-3″ Saturday. Lake effect snow picks up Sunday and highs will be in the mid 20s to upper 30s. Expect to see some minor accumulations once again for the majority of Northern Michigan.
Next Week: Monday is looking mostly to partly sunny with some isolated flurries in the morning. Highs will be in the low 30s to low 40s. Tuesday is going to be a possible mess with some rain, mix and snow across Northern Michigan. Highs will be in the mid 30s to mid 40s. Wednesday brings in scattered snow showers with highs in the low 30s to low 40s. Thursday will be cloudy with a chance for some snow as a clipper system will dive into Southern Michigan. Highs will be in the mid 20s to low 30s. -Meteorologist Michael Stevens
