TV 9 & 10 weather:
* As of 9:30am clouds are taking over Northern Michigan and wet heavy snow has moved into the Central L.P. but it changes over to rain/freezing rain very quickly. This will continue for areas of the Northern L.P. as well heading towards Noon. We will see some snow, rain and freezing rain this morning for areas of the Lower Peninsula but it will fizzle out before reaching the U.P. Temperatures this morning are in the mid teens to low 30s with winds out of the South at 5-10mph. The Eastern U.P. and Straits could catch some stray mixed showers and drizzle through the afternoon before the main part of this system arrives this evening. The main wave of this storm will arrive around 6pm for the Lower Peninsula giving us rain and freezing rain for evening commutes and then arriving by the late evening for the U.P. and Straits. Roads will turn very slick going into the night time hours and winds will start to pick up with gusts nearing 40-45mph going into tonight. Highs will be in the low 30s to low 40s this afternoon with winds out of the East/Southeast at 10-20mph.
Tonight will be a mess with rain, freezing rain and mixed showers until everything changes over to snow around 2am tomorrow morning. Winds will be out of the South/Southeast at 15-30mph with gusts nearing 40-45mph which will only add to the issues with some light ice accumulations. Some snow, gusty winds and slick roads will be the main issues tomorrow morning for commutes. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s to low 30s.
Some snow will continue throughout the day Friday with just an inch or two for most of the Lower Peninsula while the U.P. will see 2-4″ with gusty winds reducing visibilities and drifting snow. Winds will slowly turn Northwest as Friday moves on with gusts of 40-45mph. Highs will be in the low 20s to low 30s as temps slowly fall through the day. Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a slight breeze and some snow lingering around. Highs will be in the lower to middle 20s. Sunday will be mostly to partly sunny with a chance for a flurry. Highs will be in the mid teens to low 20s.
Monday will be cloudy with a chance for some lake effect snow. Highs will be in the low teens to low 20s. Tuesday will be mostly to partly sunny with highs ranging from 10 to 20 degrees. Wednesday will bring some light snow showers with highs in the mid single digits to mid teens.
