Snowmobile Conditions 1/10 – Right now snowmobile trails are in fair to good condition and being groomed. With that said, check out the weather report below. Who knows what will really happen?
Weather from 9 & 10: this morning things are cloudy with some light freezing drizzle out there. Roads could be slick for you on your morning commute but overall things aren’t terrible. Temperatures this morning are in the teens and 20s with winds out of the South/Southeast at 5-10mph. Today will be a cloudy day with warmer temperatures and some light drizzle throughout the day. Highs will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s with winds out of the South/Southeast at 8-18mph. By late this evening we will have freezing rain and rain moving into the Lower Peninsula which will create some issues tonight and tomorrow!
*Tonight will be a sloppy, slushy and possibly icy night as a system will move in from the Southwest. Freezing rain and rain will start to move into the Central L.P. counties around 8pm this evening and work into the Straits and U.P. by 11pm or so. Temperatures after midnight will surge into the mid 30s to low 40s for the Lower Peninsula which means it will be all rain for areas South of the Bridge. This will glaze over snow packed roads, it will also cause some rivers to swell and also leave a dent in the snow pack. The cold ground temperatures may also create some very icy conditions going into tomorrow morning. The Eastern U.P. will see a wintry mix of freezing rain and sloppy snow which could lead to 1″-3″ of wet and heavy snow by tomorrow morning and some very slick roads in spots. I expect advisories to be issued later today for all these issues. Rain will add up to about .5″ to almost an inch by tomorrow morning for the L.P. Overnight lows will be set early on with upper 20s to mid 30s but rise into the mid 30s and low 40s by tomorrow morning.
Saturday will start off warm with rain in the L.P. but rain will change over to snow for the afternoon hours. Areas of the Eastern U.P. could see another 1″-3″ tomorrow while areas West of I-75 in the L.P. will see an inch or two of snow tomorrow afternoon and evening. Temperatures will fall into the 20s and 30s by the evening. Winds will start off out of the Southeast but swing to the West for the afternoon and evening hours. Sunday will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the lower to upper 30s.
Monday will be cloudy with a few light snow showers. Highs will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Tuesday will bring in a weak clipper system and highs will be in the upper teens to mid 20s. Wednesday will be cloudy with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s. A more traditional clipper system will move in for Thursday and give us a good shot of snow. Highs will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s.
