Hanson Hills: We received an inch and a half of new snow last night.  Groomer Jason has set fresh tracks on RED and M-93 Hills early this morning. Tracks were set on all trails yesterday.  Skate lanes are being combed right now.  It will be a great day for skiing!

XC Ski Headquarters: We received 1-2 inches of fresh snow last night, and the trails remain in great shape. Groomer Butch will snow comb the entire system today. Classic tracks are still firm and in good condition on 90% of the trails. This fresh snow mixed with the fast snow beneath it will provide excellent skiing today. There is more snow in the forecast this week! Ski on!!

TV 9 & 10 weather:

Winter Storm Watch for Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin, and Arenac counties from late tonight until Wednesday morning. Heavy snow moves in but a period of freezing drizzle is possible Tuesday afternoon. Total accumulations of 5-8? is expected with isolated higher amount up to 10? possible. A glaze of ice is also going to be possible. Expect drifting and blowing snow with gusty winds up to 30 mph. Travel will be difficult at times so take it slow!

Today: Things today will be pretty decent today with partly to mostly cloudy skies and possible flurries in spots. Highs range from the low 20s to low 30s with winds out of the East/Northeast at 8-18 mph.

Tonight: Skies will be cloudy for the Lower Peninsula while the U.P. sees mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Right now it’s looking like snow will start to move into the Central Lower by 2-3 am with an approaching winter storm and push towards the North. Overnight lows range from 3 to 24 degrees with winds out of the East/Northeast at 10-20 mph.

Tomorrow: Another winter storm moves through bringing heavy snow and some areas of freezing rain across the Lower Peninsula. Winds will be a bit gusty at times creating blowing and drifting snow. Right now it looks like we see widespread snow throughout the day before becoming more scattered overnight into Wednesday morning. Total accumulations will be around 5-10? with isolated higher amounts in the U.P. and Northeastern Lower. The Central Lower will see a little less snow thanks to a period of freezing rain and sleet. This will keep accumulations more around 4-7?. We also see tough travel conditions and slick roads so make sure to plan ahead if traveling. Highs will be in the low 20s to mid 30s.

Wednesday: Early Wednesday morning starts with system snow but that changes to lake effect as the system moves out of the region. Blowing and drifting snow will be a concern along with some fresh lake effect accumulations. Highs range from the low 20s to low 30s.

Thursday & Friday: Thursday starts off quiet but we see scattered snow and possible rain showers move in for the afternoon with highs in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Friday brings in another potential winter storm with snow and freezing rain/rain. We will watch this closely as it approaches the region. Highs will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s.

The Weekend: Saturday is looking partly cloudy with isolated lake effect possible in spots. Temps are cooler in the mid teens to mid 20s. Sunday sees partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid teens to mid 20s.
