XC Ski Trail Conditions 1/27
Forbush Corner: Excellent ski conditions!
Hanson Hills: Groomers Jason and Tommy G. Are hard at work this morning grooming and resetting tracks on all trails. Lodge and Trails Open at 9am.
XC Ski Headquarters: We ended up with almost 5 inches of snow throughout the last 36 hours, which Ginzu Dana packed all throughout the day yesterday. He has been out since dawn this morning grooming it up, and we expect fantastic results. He will snow comb the skating lanes and set fresh tracks on all 8 trails. Great, mid-winter conditions have returned to XC Ski HQ!
TV 9 & 10 forecast: Today is going to be a cloudy day with some lake effect snow for areas of Northern Michigan. Winds will be out of the Northwest/West at 10-20mph today which will keep most of the snow confined to the Lake Superior shoreline as well as in the Tip of the Mitt region and also West of US-131 today. Highs will be in the lower to middle 30s. Accumulations will again be on the smaller side today.
Tonight: Lake effect snow continues tonight with West winds at 5-15mph. Overnight lows will be in the lower to middle 20s. Accumulations will again be on the minor side.
Your Weekend: Colder temperatures will set in Saturday and Sunday with highs mainly in the 20s for both days. Winds will again be out of the West/Northwest and this means we could have heavier bursts of snow for the Northern half of the U.P. and for areas West of I-75/US-127. Some areas could see reduced visibilities at times and roads could be a bit slick for any weekend travel plans.
Next Week: Monday is looking cold to start with some isolated lake effect snow showers. We will see some peeks of sunshine in spots but the next system is already knocking on our door by Monday evening. Highs will be in the low 20s to low 30s. A clipper system will move in from the Northwest Monday night and move through Tuesday morning. This could coat much of Northern Michigan in fresh snow. Highs will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Wednesday is looking cloudy with some lake effect snow showers. Highs will be in the mid 20s to low 30s. Thursday is looking like we have some snow out there but not a ton as lake effect snow showers weaken. Highs will be in the upper teens to upper 20s. -Meteorologist Michael Stevens
