Forbush Corner: They will be open and groomed for the weekend.
Hanson Hills: Not available.
XC Ski Headquarters: Great skiing yesterday with 2 + inches of fresh snow. Groomer Matt did a fine job snow combing the skating lanes. Ginsu Dana will start Ginzu snow combing all the trails early this morning and resetting tracks where needed. We have 8 to 10 inches of snow in the woods and 4 to 6 inches of packed snow on the trails. Conditions are excellent!
9 & 10 Weather Report:
Today: The heaviest snow will be in the Eastern U.P., mainly North of M-28 and in our Northern Lower counties mainly North of M-72. Additional accumulations in the U.P. add up to another 3-6″ likely with up to 6″ possible for the heaviest lake effect bands in the L.P.. Highs today stay frigid, topping out in the teens with wind chills below zero for many. Winds stay gusty through the day out of the West/Northwest at 15-30 mph with gusts near 35-40 mph in spots. Visibility is a big issue today from blowing snow and heavy lake effect snow creating white-out conditions at times.
Tonight: Winds start to calm tonight out of the West/Southwest at 5-15 mph. Lake effect snow starts to taper down but another 1-3″ is possible for the Northwest Lower and Eastern U.P.. Lows range from -5 to 10 degrees with wind chills dangerously cold, in the negative teens for some. Make sure to dress warm as any exposed skin could become frost bitten within 30 minutes.
Friday & Your Weekend: You’ll see pockets of lake effect linger Friday but little accumulation is expected. Highs warm into the teens to low 20s. An approaching storm brings in light snow Friday night and lasts through Saturday. We are watching this storm closely as it could bring a lot of snow to the region and create dangerous road conditions. Highs go from 20s on Saturday back to teens on Sunday with lake effect snow redeveloping.
