Forbush Corner: 1/1 Picked up about 1″ of fresh snow after the rain yesterday. Trails look decent and skiing should be fine. No new grooming as the base below the fresh snow is still to soft. Open 10 AM to 3 PM on Mondays.
Hanson Hills: Trails are shaping up nicely, Groomer Jason has been out early this morning Green, Blue, Yellow are groomed for skating as of 8:50am. Fresh Tracks will be set later this morning.
XC Ski Headquarters: The temperature has fallen to the low 20’s and the fresh dense snow from Tuesday night has firmed up nicely. The plow truck drivers had their hands full pushing the very heavy snow around yesterday! Groomer Henry will start Ginzu grooming the trails at first light. He will be setting fresh tracks and Ginzu snow combing the skating lanes on all 8 trails. Trails have a 9 to 12 inch base and there is 13 to 16 inches of snow in the woods. Conditions are very good to excellent!
9 & 10 weather forecast:
Winds are starting to shift from being out of the Northwest to being more out of the West and that is continuing what little bit of lake effect snow is out there. Expect to see some light snow with moderate bursts of snow at times this afternoon and evening. Some isolated heavy snow has been reported in spots near Manistee, Ludington and Cadillac but that heavier snow will fade as it moves away from Lake Michigan. Overall the snow will be mainly confined to the Northwest L.P. and Western portions of the Central L.P. Some areas might pick up an inch or two of snow and highs will be in the low 20s to low 30s. Winds are going to be out of the Northwest/West at 5-15mph. So expect some snow and minor accumulations across areas of Northern Michigan. Tonight is going to be cloudy with some snow. Overnight lows are going to range from 10 to 20 degrees with winds out of the Southwest/South at 5-15mph.
Friday is going to be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 20s to low 30s. Saturday is looking cloudy with highs in the mid 20s to mid 30s. There will be some snow out there as well for the afternoon and evening. Sunday will be cloudy once again but snow will hold off until the late afternoon and evening as a clipper system will start to move in for the evening. Highs are going to be in the low 20s to mid 30s. Monday is looking snowy with some gusty winds at times. Highs are going to be in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Tuesday brings some more snow with highs in the low 20s to low 30s. Wednesday looks cloudy with some lake effect snow showers with highs in the mid teens to mid 20s.
