XC Ski Headquarters: January 15, 2016 By Cross Country Ski Headquarters
Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day with pristine trail conditions, sunny skies and smiling skiers on the trails. Today won’t be as sunny, but the trails will still be in pristine skiing condition. Groomer Henry will snow comb all the skating lanes and reset track where/if necessary. The forecast for today has improved since yesterday; the chance of rain has minimized, and the chance of more snow has improved. We now have a base of 9 to 12 inches and 14 to 18 inches of snow in the woods. Its another great day to have fun on snow!
Weather Report from TV 9 & 10
This morning a little bit of fog or mist could create some icy roads for the Central L.P. and some of the Northern L.P. Just keep in mind this morning and this evening that your commutes could be a bit slow thanks to these conditions. Some snow will move in for the Eastern U.P. and Tip of the Mitt later this morning and afternoon. The snow will continue through tonight for the U.P. and totals from today and tonight could range from 3-6? of snow by tomorrow morning. The Lower Peninsula will see clouds to start but some rain, mix and light snow will be out there throughout the day. Some rain could grease over the snow packed back roads but the main roads should be fine with the little bit of rain and fog that we see South of the bridge today. By this evening things will slowly start to change over to snow for everyone. Highs today are going to be in the low 20s to low 40s with winds out of the East/Southeast at 8-18mph. Some light snow will be out there later tonight but it won’t be widespread or very heavy. Overnight lows are going to fall into the teens and mid 20s with winds out of the Northwest at 8-18mph.
Saturday is looking cloudy with some light lake effect snow showers. Highs are going to range from the mid teens to upper 20s. More lake effect snow showers move in for Sunday with highs in the teens. More lake effect snow showers Monday and highs will be in the teens. Tuesday will be cloudy with a chance for some light snow showers. Highs are going to be in the mid teens to mid 20s. Highs pressure moves in Wednesday which is going to give us mostly to partly sunny skies. Temps are going to range from the mid teens to mid 20s. Thursday will also be mostly to partly sunny with highs in the low 20s to low 30s.
