Great Trails, Great Weather!! All trails Groomed with set tracks!
XC Ski Headquarters: The warmer weather softened up the snow for good skiing yesterday. Much cooler temps for today. Ginzu Dana will Ginzu groom the skating lanes early this morning. There are some spots on the trails where the sun has transformed our deep set tracks into shallow tracks.
All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic skiing and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 10 to 16 inches (24 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 12 to 24 inches. Very good spring skiing conditions for classic and skate skiing.
9 & 10 weather:
Light snow has decided to develop for areas of the Northern L.P. thanks to Northeast winds off of Lake Huron but it is already on the way out. Today will be mostly to partly sunny with the most sun slowly working into the Central L.P. by mid afternoon. Highs today will be set early ranging from 10 to 20 degrees and winds staying out of the North/Northeast at 10-20mph. Wind chills will range from 5 to -15 degrees through today. Tonight skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures falling well below zero for everyone. Lows will range from -15 to -4 degrees with winds out of the North/Northwest at 5-10mph.
Thursday will be mostly sunny and highs will rebound into the upper teens to mid 20s. Winds will also be much lighter. Friday will be windy with a chance for a light flurry/mixed shower for the U.P. and Northern L.P. Highs will be in the mid 30s to low 40s. Saturday will be cloudy with a chance for a light flurry and highs will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Sunday will be sunny with highs in the low teens to low 20s.
Monday will be clear to start but skies will turn cloudy and highs will be in the low 20s to low 30s. A chance for light snow in the evening hours. Tuesday will be windy with some light snow and possible mixed showers thanks to a low pressure system tracking across Lake Superior. Highs will be in the low 30s to low 40s. -Meteorologist Michael Stevens
