It’s that time of year again when local businesses lose their college-bound employees, football training starts for our high school, and the early school year begins. No, summer isn’t over, but it feels like “the beginning of the end”. I see the ferns starting to turn brown, and the way-early-turning maple next to my driveway has a few bright leaves already. Yikes.
Plan on heading north when the fall colors begin, and take a beautiful canoe or kayak trip on the AuSable or Manistee Rivers. Take a leisurely drive down some of the back roads and enjoy the beauty that Mother Nature sends our way. Take a picnic lunch and relax at one of the river landings or lake access sites.
