Hartwick Pines Challenge Trail Run – This stimulating race, a 6.2 mile (10K) or 3.1 mile (5k) course, begins and ends in the Hartwick Pines State Park picnic area and follows the “Weary Legs” or “Aspen” ski and biking trail in Grayling, Michigan. The two track trail takes you through rolling hills of pine, beech, birch and aspen. Your run is entirely through the woods and the surface is hard packed.
A no-fee walk thru the Old Growth White Pine foot trail, approximately one mile, will reward the participant with a view of the logging museum, logging camp and rustic chapel.
Hartwick Pines State Park directions: 4 miles north of Grayling off I-75 at exit 259, then right 2 miles on M-93. Take left at park entrance. Note: a state park passport is needed for entry to the park.
The race begins at 10:00 a.m. on October 1, 2011. For more information, email email@example.com
