On the weekend of September 9 and 10 Wellington Park near Grayling will host a new event designed to provide fun and entertainment for the entire family. It’s being billed as the Wellington Tractor Frolic! Tractor owners are encouraged to bring their tractor for the weekend event and display it for all to see. Makes no difference, old or new, rusty or sparkling, all tractors are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Events planned for the weekend include opportunities for young and old to drive a tractor for the first time. There will also be a Big Machinery Parade each afternoon at 3:30. Highlight of the event will be a Tractor Rodeo which will allow tractor drivers to demonstrate their driving skills and winning $100. The rodeo will feature three classes of drivers divided into age groups. Each class will feature ten participants who wish to get in on the fun. Those wanting to participate in the rodeo need to register in advance. Slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Preregister for the rodeo by calling 989 348 5187 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Drivers are encouraged to drive their own tractor but if they do not have one, a Wellington tractor will be provided.
Other events will include a Slow Race, Demonstrations at the Sawmill and the Grist Mill, rides on the Wellington Steam Engine, and the Grand Parade every afternoon. Saturday evening will feature a concert by the NEW AuSable River Dixieland Band.
