On August 10, 11 and 12 the Wellington Antique Tractor and Engine Club will host their annual Tractor and Engine Show at Wellington Farm. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. and events continue throughout the entire day. Threshing, silo filling, saw milling, tractor games and a parade will fill the entire day. Many antique tractors will be on display. This year’s featured tractor is the Massey Ferguson. Wellington Farm’s Crafters Alley will be open and in operation. Watch as crafters make baskets, weave rugs, make brooms and blacksmith. Lunch will be available on the grounds and there will be a small flea market.
Saturday evening, August 11, Wellington Farm, USA will host the Sunshine String Band in concert. The Sunshine String Band is well known throughout Michigan. The group is comprised of two ladies who play the socks off Bluegrass Music with a guitar and a mandolin. Their off the wall humor and high test music make for an evening of great entertainment. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be held rain or shine. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome if the weather is good. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $12.50 per person or $20 per couple. No family will pay more than $35. Families are considered to be parents and school age children.
Also now at Wellington Farm is the Classic Comic Exhibit featuring newspaper cartoons from the Depression Era.. Visitors can have their picture taken with Dick Tracy. Flathead and the Mole will also be there. There is no extra charge for the Classic Comics exhibit.
Wellington Farm, USA is located at 6944 S. Military Road southwest of Grayling. The farm is easily accessed from either Exit 251 of I-75 or Exi206 of US-127. The historic park is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
