Every year our last event of the season is our Jack-o-Lantern Halloween Hayride. In order to provide the best possible experience, we have to carve a lot of pumpkins. In order to make this unique it is nice to have all age groups and styles of pumpkins. To achieve this, we decided that it would be wonderful to have a contest, offer prizes and just have fun.
The pumpkin is provided by the park as well as the tools to carve them. Pumpkins are carved on the last two days of Pumpkin Chunkin’ in the pavilion. Once they are all carved, they are judged by visitors at the park. There are categories for different age groups to be fair and the prize is usually a gift card that related to that age group. Then they are distributed throughout the woods to be viewed during the Halloween hay rides.
So, if you are already at the park for Pumpkin Chunkin” cider and donuts……. why not carve a pumpkin?
Pumpkins are provided from 11am to 3pm. If you would like to carve one at home and donate it to the park it can still be entered. Forms are numbered to match your pumpkin with the correct information. no need to be present, prizes are mailed shortly after the event.
