Lantern-Lit Snowshoe Hike HPSP – Celebrate the New Moon with your friends at Hartwick Pines State Park! Take your old friends and loved ones, or make new friends at this fun event!
Enjoy a 1.25-mile snowshoe hike through the lantern lit, old growth forest. Park at the Visitor Center parking lot and walk to the Old Growth Trailhead. The visitor center and restrooms will be open to the public. Dress appropriately for the weather. If there is not enough snow for snowshoes we will still offer a hike. Conditions may be icy, so wear appropriate footwear. Participants are asked to refrain from using headlamps or flashlights unless needed to adjust shoes, etc. No reservations needed. The hike is subject to cancellation due to dangerously cold temperatures (wind chill/frost bite warnings). For the most up-to-date information call the Hartwick Pines Visitor Center.
About the venue – Hartwick Pines State Park is 9672 acres of beautiful woodland, lakes, marshes, wetlands, rivers, stump fields and of course, historic old growth white pines, one of the last remnant stands of its type remaining in the state today. Take a minute to learn more and enjoy what makes Michigan so spectacular…a winter, water wonderland.
