Forest Fest at Hartwick Pines

Sat, 11 August 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

It’s that time again! Time to celebrate the beauty and serenity of Michigan’s forests! Forest Fest is an annual event at Hartwick Pines state park where locals and visitors alike get the opportunity to meet Smokey Bear, learn about Michigan’s forests, engage in activities and make some cool crafts! This is a fun-filled day for people of all ages!

Michigan’s forests are some of the most diverse in the country and abundant thanks to the Civilian Conservation Corp. It was the 1950’s when the state realized that in order to further the growth and economics of our state, forest’s needed to be replanted. The CCC set out with dibbles by their side to begin the reforestation effort. Today, thanks to hard work, dedication, support from the state and time, our forests have rebounded. We once again have more forested land than many other states in the country.

Forest Fest is just one of many opportunities for you to come on out to this beautiful state park and celebrate nature and its diversity and beauty! Spend the day playing outdoors, learning with your friends and family and just enjoying Michigan’s forests and one of the last remaining stands of Michigan’s old growth white pine forests.

There is no charge for this event, however, you must have a Michigan Recreation Passport on your car to enter the park.
