Forbush Corner: Friday, March 9, 8 am, 23 deg. f. snowing. Gained about 3 inches last night. It is expected to continue (2 to 4 inches more) until about 3 pm. Tonight’s low of 7 will set the ground up for the expected temps above freezing thru the day. Saturday should be an ideal skiing day. Warm temps on Sunday will make it softer and probably favor classic skiing. Should be a great weekend to try out your new Madshus Zero skis.
XC Ski Headquarters: Trail Report Friday March 9, 2012. So far this morning we have received 1 to 2 inches of fresh snow with 1 to 3 more forecast for today! Trails have plenty of snow on them and less pine needles and debris thanks to yesterday’s efforts by trail sweeper Fran. Groomer Rodney will Ginzu groom the fresh snow and set fresh tracks at dawn this morning on all trails. By 9 am we will have very good to excellent conditions for classic and skate skiing on the complete Rolling Hills trail. The rest of the trails will follow through out the morning.

Temps have cooled off. We did receive some rain last night and depending on how fast the snow pack dries out we may be able to open some of the trails for classic skiing later this morning. In spite of the warm weather there is still a lot of dense snow pack in the forest and on the trails.

Hanson Hills: Feb.29 We have received 6 inches of new snow and still more to come. Mike and Billy are out trying to Roll the Trail System. Conditions are going to be VERY SOFT AND VERY SLOW.. We are doing what we can. Travel Conditions are not the Best…and Ski Conditions will not be much better as long as this storm keeps up…Please be very careful.
Hartwick Pines State Park: Plenty of snow this morning at the park! Winter is certainly not done here in the Northwoods. Should have great snowshoeing conditions and once we can groom ski trails, they should be in great condition too.
XC Ski Headquarters: Total accumulation from yesterday’s snowfall was 7 to 9 inches of very dense snow. Groomers Greg and Stu spent most of the day packing, snowcombing and setting fresh tracks on all trails. By the end of the day everything was perfect!
Trail conditions are excellent for classic skiing and skate skiing ski on all trails.

XC Ski Headquarters: Ski Report Friday Feb 24, 2012; The winter weather has tracked north to bring us some very nice snow! As of 7am this morning we have received well over an inch and we are forecast to get 2 to 4 more by this evening!
Trails were fantastic yesterday. The cool nights assure that even with temps in the high 30′s the snow does not get transformed.
Groomer Rodney will start Ginzu Grooming all trial this morning at dawn and will continue as long as the snow keeps falling. Trails will be ready by 9am.
Conditions are excellent for skating and classic!

The snow on the trails is holding up very well and is still fresh. We had a great day of skiing yesterday with many skiers.The temperature as of 6:45 this morning was 24 degrees.

Trails groomed up very nicely yesterday. Snow pack is holding up very well. Groomer Greg snowcombed all the skating lanes on all the trails with great results. He also tried various ways of resetting the tracks with mixed results. By the end of the day we figured out how to Ginzu in new tracks on the Trapper’s Cabin and Tall Pines trails.
Greg will start grooming at 8AM this morning and will snowcomb the skating lanes on all the trails and Ginzu track set new tracks on the Wild Turkey, Rolling Hills, Mackinac Cut, Adventure, Trapper’s Cabin Trails. The trakcs on the Manitou Trail are skied in and still in good shape.

All trails are open. Trapper’s Cabin, Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey, Adventure and Rolling Hills are Ginzu groomed, snowcombed and have tracks set. The Manitou, Tall Pines and Blizzard Trails are Ginzu groomed and snowcombed. Tracks are skied in on these trails.

Forbush Corner: Friday, Feb 10, 11:45 am, 23 deg. SNOWING like crazy. Gained a couple inches already and it is almost a white out. Busy taking out the left track but will leave the right track for any classical skiers that want to ski today. The skating was brilliant for a while there everywhere but now you might want to follow the groomer.
Friday, Feb 10, 7:30 am, 25 deg. That will be the high for today with temps falling to 5 deg. tonight. Light snow has fallen with 1 to 2 inches predicted for today.
Will begin the re-tracking process today. As a result I will be in and out of the ski shop. Go ahead and ski if I am not in the shop when you arrive. The skating should be very good today as I will be tilling up the left hand set track (the right one will remain).
For track distance fanatics, here’s a summary of the trails and their distance.
Pancake 1.3, Flatlands 1.5, Lil Coaster 2.4, Badlands 6, Rollercoaster 7, Green Trail 3.5, Ward Orchard loop 2, Screamer/Stinker loops 3, Back Forty 4.5. Total of 31.2 kms. If you add the Perimeter loop it is another 14 km. It is by far, the finest trail system that we have every had.

XC Ski Headquarters: SNOW today is in the forecast! The Premier Trails, Trapper’s Cabin, Wild Turkey, Mackinac Cut, Adventure and Rolling Hills, continue to hold up well.
Groomer Rodney will use the heavy weight Tidd Tech to go after the hard pack this morning. We used it yesterday and had even better results than the with the Ginzu. We will continue to groom throughout the day if the snow comes.
The above trails are fun and fast. The skating lanes are looking good and the classic tracks are very firm.
Hopefully we will get enough snow to open the Manitou and Tall Pines trails tomorrow!
