On May 26th the streets of Grayling will be filled with artists and art aficionados enjoying the Uptown Grayling Annual Spring Art Walk. Grayling, MI will be alive with artists hosted by 16 participating stores, each store offering something special for their shopping guests. Most participating hosts will offer refreshments; others will have a surprise. 16 local artists (one in each store; painter, photographer, potter, woodworking and glass artists, mixed media and more.) will be demonstrating and answering questions about their craft… Truly something for everyone.

Looking for something to do on Saturday….Come out to Kirtland Community College tomorrow, April 21st!!! R.O.A.R.’s Battle of the Bands will be presenting Controlled Burn, Hail Your Highness, Lewis Condor, Lost Identity, Dactylion, and The CC Singer Show. Doors open at 4pm and the 1st band takes the stage at 4:30. $5 entry fee, with R.O.A.R. t-shirts, band merchandise, & concessions available!!!! Saturday, April 14th at the AuSable Artisan Village Art Center there will be an unveiling of a new sign for The AuSable Artisan Village. Metalwork by Dick Davis of the Boardman River Trading Company and artwork by Terry Dickinson, Director of The AuSable Artisan Village Art Gallery. Come for the unveiling; stay for the art.  Dick Davis will be demonstrating his craft all day.

The Annual Grayling Promotional Association Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012. This is an indoor show located at the Grayling Elementary School and is held as a fundraiser for GPA, an organization which helps to promote and improve its community. This show is held during downtown Grayling’s Harvest Fest, and a shuttle will transport visitors between the Arts & Crafts Show and the downtown activities.

You can choose to make a (business) card case or a cell phone case from batik fabrics. In making this project, a variety of techniques will be introduced including thread painting, bobbin work, using trims, yarns and ephemera as embellishments.

You will need to bring: Sewing machine, free motion foot attachment (also called darning foot), extra machine needles and extra (empty) bobbins, thread and several filled bobbins plus any special threads, trims, yarns or ephemera you might like to incorporate into your project. Also an extension cord or power strip (best).

Saturday, March 24th from 1-4 p.m. at the AuSable Artisan Village Art Center

Class Fee:
AAV Members: $10 for a Project Kit. Everything you need to complete the project will be supplied for this fee.
Non-Members: $12 for a Project Kit. Everything you need to complete the project will be supplied for this fee.

The Lampwork Bead Making Class teaches you how to make beads. The class is taught by AAV artist, Anne Marie Stanesa. A great workshop for beginning and continuing bead makers! Students will learn the basic technique of forming beads on a mandrel using a table top torch and soft glass (effrette) rods to build these colorful glass pieces. Studio safety, glass compatibility, annealing, bead shaping, and basic bead decorating will be covered in this class as you learn to use heat and gravity to shape molten glass.

Demonstrations will alternate with working time. Ages 13+.

Saturday, March 31st from 1-5 p.m. at the AuSable Artisan Village

The fee for the class is:
AAV Members: $75 plus a materials fee of $25.00 for fuel and glass.
Non-Members: $80 plus a materials fee of $25.00 for fuel and glass.
High School Students register for 1/2 price.
