The xc ski season is just about over - with temperatures in the 60s on Wednesday, snow is melting quickly. You may find some areas still open, but for sure check before you make your plans. Try to visit the Grayling area during the warm weather - check our calendar of events page for special activities. Have a great summer!

spring skiing conditions
The latest reports:
Forbush Corner: Thursday, March 12, 7 deg f bright sun. Gained several more inches of snow over the last few days. More snow expected today. Today's high will be 18, Tomorrow's high 28, Saturday a high of 41 and Sunday 42. It will be quite cold both Friday night and Saturday. Very sunny and bright for both Saturday and Sunday according to the weather forecasters.
Hanson Hills: open but not being groomed. No trail fee due to the poorer conditions of the trails
XC Ski Headquarters: Kevin started grooming today at 5am. All skating lanes are being snowcomed and tracks are being freshened. Very, very good conditions for both classic and skating on all trails today.

spring skiing conditions
Forbush Corner: Sunday, March 8....hmmmmm.....well I guess some people like to hang out in the gloom and doom of a downstate rainshower and others like to drive north into the sunshine and the frresh tilled snow for a great time of spring skiing fun. noon, It doesn't get any better than this. Warm, fresh tilled snow, good tracks, the Mario trail is open, Great skating and Great classical....you should be here. Reopen for next weekend.
Hanson Hills: March 9. Grooming today - rolling and will attempt to set some track. Lots of snow last night.
XC Ski Headquarters: Groomer Kevin will start grooming this morning (3/9/09)at 8am. Fresh tracks will be set on all trails and all skating lanes will be snowcombed. Very good spring conditions.
XC Ski Shop: Dick is out grooming as I write this. Conditions will be good, although soft, for the next couple of days. Stay tuned for an update later this week.

Current trail conditions
Forbush Corner: Friday, March 6, 8 am, 43 deg f. Tonights low will be 26 and the high for Sat will be 41. That means that it will be fast in the morning and slow in the afternoon as it get well above freezing. Sunday's high will be 36 but after a low of 23 the night before, it should be quite pleasant. They are also calling for a possibility of rain or snow but with our slightly colder temps and assuming that it happens, we are hoping for snow...if we get anything. We will be open today in a limited way. Please call first (989)348-5989. Lots of snow remains probably over a foot.
Hanson Hills: March 6, 2009: WET and Warm Conditions. No grooming. Ski at your own risk.
XC Ski Headquarters: Trails will not be groomed this morning due to warm temps. We plan on grooming tomorrow morning when the temps are in the mid 20s. The last Saturday that had a forecast for a few showers later in the day turned out to be a sunny day!

XC Ski Headquarters: Groomer Larry will start grooming later this morning (3/4/09). Fresh tracks have been set on a number of trails yesterday. Larry will finish setting tracks and snowcomb all the skating lanes. Very very good conditions.
Hanson Hills: Trails are excellent. Tracks are set on all trails and Jake is resurfacing the Skate lanes today.

Great conditions!
Forbush Corner: Friday, Feb 27, 8 am, 18 deg f. Gained a few more inches of snow last night. It should till up great this afternoon. Will track it early in the morning. The high expected for both Sat and Sun is 17. It is another weekend that you won't want to miss.
Hanson Hills: Trails are in excellent condition.. Everything Except for the RED is groomed with fresh Track Set. Butch will be grooming the RED first thing Saturday morning.
XC Ski Headquarters: Yesterday afternoon the sun came out and the temperature warmed into the high 30's. Most of the skiers were from Ohio! Received an inch or two of wet snow last night. Temps started to cool around 5am this morning.
SKIING & SNOW CONDITIONS: Groomer Larry (groomer Kevin will be back from Alaska in a week or so) will start grooming this morning once the snow cools. Most likely around 9am. Fresh tracks will be set and all skating lanes will be snowcombed. Very, very good conditions.

XC Ski Headquarters: Great skiing again yesterday. Looks like a warmer day today with some kind of precipitation this afternoon. Fresh groomed snow makes for excellent conditions. Groomer Kevin started grooming and snowcombing all trails this Wednesday morning at 6am. Deep tracks are set. Most excellent conditions.
Hanson Hills: All trails are groomed with set track.
Forbush Corner: Tuesday, Feb 24, 9:30 am, 7 deg. Very cold last night. Bright sun this morning. The track is still excellent. Officially closed but if you would like to ski, give me a call and we will make arrangements for you to get onto the track.

XC Ski Headquarters: Yesterday's skiing was remarkable. Great skating and striding. Perfect temps for glide and control. Today should be just as good. All trails are open and are in such great shape that no one coming from southern Michigan would believe it! Groomer Kevin started grooming all trails at 6am this morning (2/16/09). All trails are snowcombed and fresh deep tracks are being set on all trails except Tall Pines. Good conditions on the Tall Pines trail. Very good conditions on the Trappers Cabin, Manitou, Blizzard and Adventure trails. Excellent conditions on the Rolling Hills, Mackinac Cut and Wild Turkey Trails.
Forbush Corner: Sunday, Feb 15, 6 am 9 deg f (high of 24). Gained 3 inches of snow yesterday and last night. Should be another excellent day of skiing.
Tomorrow, Monday, President's Day, the high is expected to be 23. Open tomorrow but closed Tuesday thru Friday.
Hanson Hills: Trails are open. Track and skating are both in good shape.
XC Ski Shop: TRAILS LAST GROOMED:FEBRUARY 14, 2009 Skate lanes spiffed up, tracks still in great shape. TRAILS are OPEN and in very good condition on over 95% of the trail. We had to shovel snow to cover about 50 feet of bare spots a couple of days ago. We have received 2-3 inches of snow since then. NO TRAIL FEE. FREE LIGHTED TRAIL. Open 7 nights per week til 11:00PM

It is predicted to be in the teens every night thru the weekend with a high Friday & Saturday of 27, and Sunday 29. Probably fairly high humidities with all the snow in the forecast.
