Interested in the sport of fly-fishing? Already a fly-fisher but want to improve your skills? Orvis is sponsoring a free fly-fishing event that will teach you what you need to know to feel prepared when you hit the river. With volunteers from both the Headwaters and Mason-Griffith chapters of Trout Unlimited, this class will cover basic casting, knots, theory and technique. Included in it is a free a $15 gift certificate from Orvis, as well as a free $35 membership to Trout Unlimited. Everyone is welcome, and all necessary equipment is provided (please bring rods and reels if you already have them!)

This is the perfect opportunity to introduce kids, spouses or parents to the sport. Similar classes cost $100 or more.

The event begins at 9 am at Gates Au Sable Lodge, and ends at noon. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, including rain gear, as well as bug dope, and something to drink or snack-on. Sunglasses are also recommended.

Au Sable guide, and Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor Mark Hendricks will be the head instructor at the event.
