The Crawford County Historical Society is sponsoring their fourth annual Cemetery Walk on August 13, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. The Civil War theme this year is honoring those who served and are buried in Elmwood, on this 150th year anniversary of the beginning of the War Between the States. The Society is featuring seven soldiers in the northern portion of the cemetery.

The re-enactors will tell the tales of their service in the Union Army during the War. The names of all 22 who served from this northern section will be listed in the brochure. In future walks, others of the 60-known soldiers from the area who served will be featured. The soldiers are buried in seven Crawford County cemeteries.

The gate will open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. Greeters will hand out brochures and direct guests to a parking area. There is no admission charge; donations are welcome. Wear comfortable walking shoes; a golf cart is available for those needing extra assistance. The Elmwood Cemetery is located in Grayling, Mi., on the corner of North Down River Road and the I-75 Business Loop.
