The AuSable Artisan Village will present John Gorka in concert on January 30, 2011 at 7 pm at the Joseph Stripe Auditorium in Grayling, MI. Rolling Stone magazine describes John Gorka as “the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the new folk movement.” According to The New York Times, “Listening to John Gorka sing, one can get goose bumps all over. “
The AAV is a non-profit organization whose purpose it is to promote visual and performing artists and art in north central Michigan through galleries, classes, and live performance. This is the first in a series of acoustic music concerts that will take place monthly through May.
John Gorka is an honored icon of folk tradition. Energetic acoustic music that is not a trend, not a fad, but an expression of everyday life, is his trademark. John’s rich baritone voice and unique songcraft weave a magical spell that can only be described as ‘Gorka.’
Many well- known artists have recorded and/or performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura O’Connell. Do not miss this opportunity not just to hear but to experience John Gorka’s music. He’ll make you laugh, cry, and think.
Advance tickets are available at Flowers by Josie in Grayling, or on line. www.johngorka.com or www.annandwillrowland.com For more information call 231-238-0054. All seats are $15 and general admission.
