PBS’s renowned “duct tape man” will be performing two shows at the Kirtland Center for the Performing Arts on February 12th at 2pm and 7pm. The Kirtland Center is located on the campus of Kirtland Community College in Roscommon, Michigan. Steve Smith, better known as Red Green, brings his brand of comedy and down home humor to our “neck of the woods”.  With the wit and fun of his well known PBS character, this one man show is sure to leave audience members in stitches, or in duct tape.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Steve’s quick wit and creative mind have always been a great source of entertainment to his family and friends. That he would make a good living using these natural talents combined with fierce determination and boundless energy is no surprise.

Steve has had a comedy series on the air for over 20 years. His television career started with Smith & Smith, a sketch comedy series starring Steve and his partner and wife, Morag. Steve wrote and produced all 195 episodes. It was during this period that Steve’s most popular alter ego “Red Green” was created. Smith & Smith won several awards including the Iris Award at NATPE ’85 in San Francisco.

Director Don Wray noted that “Steve’s popularity is evidenced by the near sold out tickets for our 7pm show and the growing numbers of patrons planning on attending the 2pm show. We are looking forward to his presentation, and I’m sure it will be memorable.”

Tickets are $34 and $32 with senior and student discounts available.  The Children’s Learning Center will be opened for both performances and free shuttle service to the main doors will be available. For more information or tickets call 989-275-6777 or visit the website at www.kirtlandcenter.com.

Red Green is being sponsored in part by WCMU Public Broadcasting.
